At a glance

A dedicated laundry room with an LG front-load washer and electric dryer pair, each with controls built into the door face rather than a separate panel above it. Brand is confirmed by photo; the dryer's fuel type is owner-confirmed electric, which narrows the exact model guess to LG's flagship on-door-control pair (WM9000HVA washer + DLEX9000V electric dryer) — still likely rather than certain pending the rating-plate sticker, but no longer a gas/electric coin flip. See Specs for what’s confirmed vs. still to check.

Where
A dedicated upper-floor room with its own window; the washer and dryer sit side by side, not stacked.
Must know
Everything works the same as any front-load pair: load, pick a cycle, go. Both the washer and dryer are WiFi-connected (LG ThinQ) — the owner confirms finish notifications by email/app work today. The dryer’s electric hookup means no gas shutoff to worry about for this appliance; it does still have a Steam/TurboSteam function that needs a water line, which matters for winterizing.
Status
Installed and in use. Brand confirmed by photo (LG). Dryer fuel type (electric) is owner-confirmed, narrowing the likely dryer model to DLEX9000V. WiFi/ThinQ notifications are owner-confirmed working. Exact model numbers, serials, and whether the units convey are still to confirm — see Specs.

2Everyday use

This is an LG pair with the control panel built into the door face rather than on a panel above it — load it, pick a cycle, go. The dryer’s steam function is the one thing worth knowing about before laundry day.

  • Washer and dryer are a matched LG front-load pair, controls built into each door rather than a separate top panel; a chrome rotary dial plus touch buttons select the cycle. At least one unit sits on a storage pedestal/base — confirm whether both do.
  • Sliding lid: both machines have a "Sliding Lid" on the top of the cabinet (labeled on the unit) — slide it back for a bit of extra top-loading counter space or venting.
  • Wi-Fi / LG ThinQ — owner-confirmed working: both machines are connected to LG’s ThinQ app today, and the owner confirms finish notifications by email and in the app work as expected — start a load, and ThinQ will tell you when it’s done. Both also show Smart Diagnosis and Remote Start on the control panel.
  • Utility sink sits beside the dryer for hand-washing, soaking, or rinsing out mop heads and cleaning supplies.
  • Wire shelving with a hanging rail spans the wall above head height — shelf space for supplies and a rail for hang-drying or fresh-from-the-dryer garments.
  • A window brings in natural light and, if you crack it, some extra ventilation for the room.

Do the washer and dryer convey?

Property listings do not always include laundry appliances the way built-in kitchen appliances are included. Confirm at walkthrough / in the purchase agreement whether this washer and dryer convey with the house.

ThinQ account handover for a new owner

If the washer and dryer convey, handing over the ThinQ connection is simple: sign out of the seller’s LG account in the ThinQ app, then have the buyer sign in with their own LG account and re-add the appliances — no vendor call needed.

4Maintenance

  • Dryer vent cleaning: clean the lint screen before or after every load — but that alone isn't enough. Have the dryer vent duct itself (the ductwork running from the dryer to the exterior) cleaned at least once a year, or sooner if drying times start creeping up — lint accumulates inside the duct from the very first use even with a clean screen, and it's the leading cause of dryer fires. See the CPSC/NFPA guidance in Documents below.
  • TurboSteam water line: the dryer’s steam function needs its own small water supply line (separate from the washer’s hot/cold hoses) — locate its shutoff and include it in any winterizing or vacation-shutoff routine. Confirm at walkthrough where this line’s shutoff is.
  • Washer supply hose inspection: check both hot and cold supply hoses every few months for bulges, cracking, or a hose that feels stiff/brittle. Replace supply hoses proactively every 3–5 years regardless of visible wear — failure rates climb sharply after 5 years, and a burst hose while you're out of the house is one of the most common (and expensive) home water-damage claims.
  • Upgrade to braided steel hoses if the current ones are the plain black rubber kind — they resist bursting far better than unreinforced rubber. Confirm at walkthrough which type is currently installed.
  • Washer drain/overflow: confirm the washer drains into a standpipe or the utility sink's drain and that it has an air gap (not a sealed connection) — worth a visual check that nothing looks jury-rigged. Confirm the drain configuration at walkthrough — no drain pan is visible in the current photo; note whether one exists (it matters if this room is ever over a finished space below).
  • Washer tub clean cycle: the washer’s panel includes a dedicated Tub Clean cycle — run it monthly (empty) to keep the drum and door gasket from developing mildew, a common front-loader complaint.
  • Utility sink: ordinary care — no special maintenance beyond normal drain upkeep.

Don't run the dryer unattended or overnight

Standard fire-safety advice for any clothes dryer, not specific to this unit: don't run it while you're out of the house or asleep, and don't dry anything stained with a flammable substance (cooking oil, gasoline, solvents, etc.).

5Troubleshooting

  • Drying takes much longer than it used to: the #1 cause is a partially clogged vent duct, not the dryer itself — check/clean the full vent run before assuming the appliance is failing.
  • Water pooling near the washer: shut off the supply valves (hot and cold, typically behind or beside the machine) immediately and check the supply hoses and drain connection before running another load.
  • Washer won't drain or is unbalanced: standard front-load troubleshooting — check for an unbalanced load first, then the drain hose/standpipe for a kink or clog.
  • Musty smell from the washer: common with front-load washers if the door/gasket isn't left open to dry between loads. Leave the door cracked when not in use and wipe the door gasket periodically.

Brand (LG) is confirmed by photo, and the dryer's fuel type (electric) is owner-confirmed; the exact model numbers are still likely rather than certain, so the links below cover the specific likely models plus LG’s general support in case the walkthrough turns up a different pair.

To archive (Phase B)

Once the door-frame rating plates confirm the exact model numbers, re-verify against the archived combined DLEX9000V/DLGX9001V manual (electric vs. gas is now settled — electric, owner-confirmed).
